      Academic Blueprint

      For the school year 2024 - 2025

      I. Introduction

      The past two academic years necessitated transitioning from full face-to-face to online modality, from full-year courses to semester-based subjects.

      The online modality had set many challenges and created demanding new tasks for both teachers and students compelling them to readjust teaching and learning styles. To abate the sudden impact of these changes, the school opted to provide then, a structured approach by dividing the academic year into manageable chunks. Though the duration of semesters led to pacing challenges, its merits are undeniably irreprehensible on the part of the students. With less number of academic subjects to focus on per semester, students will be allowed for more in-depth exploration and understanding of each subject.

      As Research is placed at the forefront of our academic offerings, English, Science, and Mathematics remain to be full-year courses. At Aquinas School, we foster an environment where academic excellence thrives hand in hand with holistic approach based on the Whole Child Development Principle. With such, we integrated Sports in a way that balances with academic responsibilities.

      We continually strive to enhance our curriculum to our students and prepare them for the challenges that suit the future, thus, the school year 2024-2025 marks a significant touchstone for us as we test run the Phoenix innovative Aralinks Coding Education or ACE. Technological training as provided by Technokids is integrated in the computer curriculum of Grades 1-10, aimed at equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

      Dominican College endeavors to invest in quality education as we hope and aim to invest and offer an equitable and bright future for all our learners who are integrated, competent, and morally upright.

      True to our motto of promoting a Whole Child curriculum, all endeavors for SY 2024-2025 shall be geared towards the tenets of Whole Child: Healthy, Safe, Challenged, Engaged, and Supported. Alongside those are the pursuit for the six essential Cs for the 21st Century learners: Critical Thinking & Problem Solving, Collaboration, Communication, Creativity & Innovation, Community & Citizenship, and Character.

      B. Curriculum Year

      * Duration: July 22, 2024 to April 8, 2025

      C. Curriculum Period

      The same semestral scheme (except for Mathematics, Science, and English) is to be followed for 2024-2025 to maintain the ease of addressing the students' concerns regarding overloaded subjects each week.

       

      1. Pre-School Junior Kinder and Senior Kinder will have two (2) sets of examinations for semestral subjects and four (4) for full-year subjects (Mathematics, English, and Science).

       

      2. Elementary and Junior High School College Grade 1-10 pupils/students will have two (2) sets of examinations for semestral subjects and four (4) for full-year subjects (Mathematics, English, and Science).

       

      3. Senior High School - Grade 11 and 12 students will take the subjects per semester as prescribed by DepEd.

      D. Learning Mode

      Full Face-to-Face Modality

      The school resumes its previous learning modality where students meet with the teachers at regularly scheduled sessions within the same physical classroom environment.

      E. Instruction Time

      Important notes:

      Swimming lesson. Will be part of the PE curriculum for:

      Grades 1-6 (second semester)

      Grades 7-10 (first semester)

      Grades 11-12 as indicated in their schedule

      Each subject can allot one period each week dedicated to guidance/research/library. Specific details will be part of the learning guide

      III. Assessment

      A. Summative Quiz

      Students shall take the summative tests under the supervision of teachers. All results of summative tests are recorded and weighted under Written Works.

      B. Recitation

      Recitations are graded according to a Standard Rubric and are recorded under Performance Tasks.

      C. Mini Tasks

      The mini tasks are done during the last contact time in a week under the supervision of the teacher.

      D. Performance Tasks

      A performance task is any learning activity or assessment that asks students to perform to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding, and proficiency related to the lesson whereby they are to yield a tangible product.

      E. Periodical Examination

      These are quarterly test that are weighted under Quaterly Assessment.

      F. Performance Assessment Tests

      College G.R.A.C.E. (Global Resources for Assessment, Curriculum, and Evaluation) of Phoenix Publishing House administers the pre and post-tests for Grades 1-10, to guide teachers in making informed and data-based decisions.

      G. Standardized Tests

      NCAE (National Career Assessment Examination) is administered by DepEd to Grades 6 & 12 students.

      IV. Capacity Building Mechanism For Students

      1. Enhancing Leadership

      Leadership is cultivated by giving chances for students to be part of student governance and volunteering opportunities.

       

      2. Intensification of Co-curricular Activities

      Clubs are organized by assigned moderators to complement academic activities with tangible activities that add more meaning to learning and discovering.

       

      3. Class Merging

      SHS classes are merged with those from Aquinas. School to give more dynamism in learner interaction.

      V. An Educational Apostolate To Grade 10 Completers Of Public Schools

      Dominican College opens its doors to grade 10 completers from public school who aspire to obtain a senior high school diploma from a private institution, by accepting the SHS Voucher amounting to Php 22,500 as payment for the tuition fee for the whole school year. They will only be required to pay a top-up amount of Php 3,000.

      VI. On The Possibility Of Adapting Other Modalities During. Emergency Cases

      To ensure learning continuity even amid unexpected circumstances, the school continues to render the services of online platforms with Google Classroom or Google Meet and Aralinks LMS.

      VII. Other Matters

      A. Government Subsidy

      Dominican College has been a beneficiary of the Student Subsidy coursed through the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC).

        1. Junior High School (ESC) - Beginning grade 7, all students with Filipino nationality are entitled for a Php 13,000 annual subsidy.
        2. Senior High School (SHS Voucher) - Grade 11 and 12 students are entitled for:

          • Php 18,000 subsidy - for students from private schools
          • Php 22,500. subsidy - for students from public schools

      B. Video Conference Application

      For online sessions, Dominican College will utilize Google Classroom or Google Meet.

       

      C. Learning Management System

      To manage students' outputs and examination-taking with ease, Dominican College will continue to utilize Phoenix ARALINKS LMS.

       

      D. Online Library Subscription

      To assist the students in their research works, Dominican College will continue to utilize the World E-Book, which contains 25,000 volumes of E-books.

      VII. Conclusion

      This academic blueprint serves as a roadmap for achieving our vision of an exemplary educational institution aimed at developing learners to be resilient, informed, and involved. By aligning our goals with the needs of our students, faculty, and broad community, we are committed to fostering an environment that empowers, expands, and embraces the potential of the young. As we implement this blueprint, we anticipate significant advancements in academic quality, institutional reputation, and over-all student success.

      By focusing on the core pillars of curriculum development, faculty enhancement, student engagement, and technological integration, we aim to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that prepares students for the challenges of the years ahead.
