Science in Action! Grade 9 Science Activity: Blood Typing
As part of their lesson on the circulatory system and its connection to genetics, the Grade 9 students conducted a hands-on activity on blood typing. This experiential approach allowed them to deepen their understanding of its importance to real life, and of scientific concepts, particularly its connection to Genetics - the Law of Codominance.
The students were highly engaged throughout the activity and were especially enthusiastic upon discovering that one of their classmates possesses the AB blood type, a clear example of codominant inheritance.
This activity was facilitated by a professional - Mr. Ronald Allan Raymundo, and was carried out under safe conditions, with the use of sterile and disposable materials, and parental consent.
